The Indianapolis Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. hosted a Banned Book Awareness "Seeing Black in REaD" Literacy event.
This event highlighted the partnership between Delta Sigma Theta Sorority chapters around the Midwest and the Black Caucus of American Library Association (BCALA) to remind everyone about the valuable resources and power available with a library card and reading.
The purpose of this event was to:
- Put books in the hands of minorities
- Increase the number of blacks with library cards
- Expose our community to reading resources
Special Guests included:
- Deputy Mayor Judith Thomas
- Re-enactment actress Vickie Daniel who will portray
